Skin & Coat for dogs FAQs

What causes dog itching?

Lots of things can cause itching in dogs. Some of the most common culprits include pests – such as mites and fleas – pollen, plants and grasses, food sensitivities, dietary changes and laundry products.

What can I do for my dog’s itching?

There are plenty of ways you can support your itchy dog, but first, you need to know the cause. Once you’ve identified that, you can take appropriate action. For example, if your washing powder seems to be the problem, you can experiment with non-bio brands. YUMOVE Skin and Coat Care Itching for Dogs may also help. It’s packed with high-quality Omega-3 and 6 oils to calm and soothe skin from within.

When should I take my dog to the vet for itching?

If you’re concerned about your dog’s itching or it is causing redness, bald patches or worse, you should speak to your vet immediately. Itching can be tiresome for our pets, so don't forget to ask your vet for help.

What’s ‘normal’ when it comes to dog moulting?

Moulting varies between dogs. Some shed lightly all year, while others have heavier seasonal moults. If you notice bald patches, irritated skin, excessive licking or changes from the ordinary, it’s best to check with your vet to rule out any underlying concerns. Read our blog Dog moulting: why and when do dogs moult? for more information.

How does diet affect my dog’s skin and coat?

Your dog’s skin and coat condition can be linked to their diet – specifically the levels of Omega-3 and Omega-6 oils they’re getting. These essential fatty acids help keep skin soft, supple and healthy, which is important as each hair follicle (and the hair it produces) is part of the skin.
